I'll need to read up on this sometime in the future, but i think this has changed significantly and there may be some plants, at least Pilot Plants online for Cellulosic Ethanol

Also i should ask the people i know over at SciHub Inc about Genetic Engineering for this; could you make yeast that produce the enzyme themselves, or algae perhaps etc
