5-6% in the US, seller pays. Buyer pays a higher price, as seller covers the commission. In the UK, sellers pay a 2% commission (as opposed to 5-6% paid by seller).
Reform intends to abolish the fixed seller's rate, making it a la carte. This is somewhat solved, as one can be their own agent for free - getting a seller's agent is optional.
