It is a FreeCAD Workbench which allows for the design of parts, machines, or other systems. In the OSE sense - it is a workbench dedicated to the design of a specific product or family of products in a Product Ecology - which can be any product. This allows for much faster work - by providing design templates and Admissible Parts Lists preloaded.
This builds on other automation tools in FreeCAD, such as the Python Console, Macros, Spreadsheet Workbench - and the general programmability of FreeCAD.
