According to Metacrisis theory, one major need for improving civilization towards long-term survivability (potentially addressing the Fermi Paradox) is to redefine an incontrovertible mental model of what it means to be human. The claim from the Metacrisis community is that 'humanity' can be defined rigorously as a set of common, uniform principles - leaving the realm of relativism.
