Basics
- Diesel Fuel that has a Dye Added to show that it is not being used for “Road Use” and thus not taxed
- Can be cheaper, although especially if filling Safety Cans etc it may not be worth the risk of someone accidentally filling up a Vehicle, then if you get pulled over etc being fines etc
- It USED TO contain higher amounts of Sulfur (in the days before ULSD vs now where even Bunker Fuel / Sixth Oil has reduced/no Sulfur)
- Luckily this is no longer an issue (at least in the USA/EU, add checking other areas’ standards to the to-do list)
Potential Impact of Dye on Combustion
- To Do:
- Look up what dye is used
- Depending on that try and do the stoic + see combustion products
- Also any deposits after Accelerated Aging Tests / other concerns?
Internal Links
- Fuel Alcohol
- Some Non-Drinking Alcohols are Dyed in a Similar Manner
