Basics

This page aims to cover the various ratios of Fuel (typically Ethanol Free Gasoline ) and 2-Stroke Oil for use in Total Loss Lubrication 2-Stroke Engines
Common ratios will be covered and compared
- Impacts on Longevity, and Engine Deposits / Carbon Buildup (in particular on the Spark Arrestor / Muffler assembly
Digging into information on (Malicious) Regulatory Compliance, and if engines REALLY ARE just telling people to use 50:1 for emissions, rather than actual design changes, will also be covered

Due to the Total Loss Lubrication , impacts in amount of Oil also directly impact the Air/Fuel Ratio
Thus if one doesn’t want this to cause the engine to run more lean/rich, the Carburetor will need to be adjusted
Some of the tests have neglected this, while comments have mentioned it

A Video by the YouTube Channel “Dave’s Small Engines” Titled “Will my chainsaw last longer if i use more oil? Is it safer? (25:1 VS 50:1 temperature testing ( ‘’’~15 Minute Watch’’’ )
- Main downside is the only thing they did was measure Cylinder (outer) Wall, and Muffler Temperature, both with a Laser Thermometer . The procedure was through + well thought out, but no investigation on Engine Deposits Carbon Deposits, or of Wear (On the Cylinder, on Valves, etc). Cut tests were alright, but more Project Farm esque jigs, or a Dynamometer test would be nice for quantification of power etc
