The logic in this page is flawed, in my opinion. It proposes that OSE be based on a model similar to Wikipedia, then goes on to say how different the OSE development model is than Wikipedia. Wikipedia succeeds BECAUSE it is a pure information construct. Crowd sourcing works to it's advantage because it's easy to add a bit of information that gets massaged into a finished article later by a curator. Because OSE requires actual build-out of the ideas proposed, it is fundamentally different than Wikipedia. As such, trying to model OSE organizationally or developmentally on Wikipedia just won't work.

A distributed, collaborative approach to hardware development CAN be defined. Other successful projects, such as RepRap, have shown this. They do NOT use a Wikipedia model.
