Why not skip this project by using a ceiling (or frame) mounted industrial robot with an universal tool mount on the end. All that would be needed would be a table (height-changeable if needed) and a mountable router (maybe even a plastic extruder and laser.) It might not be accurate enough as is, so the industrial robot might have to be reduced to 3 or 4 joints.
Could we design the CNC circuit mill so that it's made out of modular linear axes that can be grown or reconfigured, rather than one monolithic block?
