Technical Community Manager
General
- Executive position - responsible for managing remote technical contributions in a complex and rapidly-growing organization
- Long-term intent, full time offer
- May work via tele-commuting
- Intent of position is to grow with organization
- Competitive salary based on experience and culture fit
- Kansas City or New York City location
- Official title: Technical Community Manager, promotion track to Director of Community and Culture
Role Description
- Responsible for managing technical contributions from a broad range of Open Source Ecology stakeholders - designers, fabricators, builders, architects, engineers, videographers, technical writers, students, and others
- Leverages technical contributions from global community to augment the design/protyping/build efforts of the Product Lead
- Assists ED in developing effective protocols and innovative tools for leveraging and streamlining contributions from a wide range of remote collaborators
- Maintains and Updates OSE Community Handbook, a guide for remote collaborators
- Feeds contributor output to Documentation Manager and Product Lead
- Recruits, negotiates and formalizes participation of remote contributors
- Reports to Operations Manager
- Maintains a contributor database
- Organizes special events, hackathons, Flash Mobs, and other Crowd Design and Manufacturing sessions
Requirements
- 10+ years of community management experience
- Experience in interviewing
- Excellent communication in written, verbal, email, and video forms
- Conflict resolution skills
- Keen ability to identify, develop, and leverage talent from a global community
- Excellent mentorship and team building skills
- Track record of community and humanitarian service
- Extensive experience with project management software
- Extensive experience with database management
- Engineering management experience is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Willingness to migrate to Linux as the OSE computer platform
