Second batch started fruiting, but bodies dried up. Garbage bag was used to cover 3-bucket tower. Result: this batch got contaminated, did not work. Only minor fruiting. Lesson: make sure to clean buckets thoroughly. It could have also been near-frozen substrate outside - left too long and temperature was not good for active mushroom establishment. | |||

Last flushes keep coming. 11 oz collected, for a total of 10 lb, 5.25 oz. Dried about 5 lb of mushrooms for later use. Is this the last of the Nov. 10 planting? So far, the first batch is lasting 10 weeks, with significant dropoff (should do a graph based on numbers below). | Last flushes keep coming. 11 oz collected, for a total of 10 lb, 5.25 oz. Talked to Natalie at Field and Forest. Obags - [1]. Ordered Golden Oyster for immediate shipment - [2]. In 3 weeks - Pink and Grey Dove. Figure: one 4lb bag of grain spawn per 12 lb dry straw, or 1/3 bale - or One 4 lb. bag of grain spawn will inoculate about 40-80 lbs. of wet pasteurized substrate. Fruiting is 1 lb wet mushroom to 1 lb of dry straw. Total last time - 12 lb mushrooms produced.
