Basics

  • An Alternative Method of Shipping FDM Filament
  • Uses a coil with 4 ties radially spaced out
  • Thus there is no "disposable" FDM Filament Spool
  • It then uses a "Master Spool" that is reused for each filament
    • These can be old ones, or even 3d printed
  • The Advantages Are
    • Less mass to be shipped (can often reduce shipping cost)
    • No cost to make a spool, and thus either cheaper overall, or more grams of filament for the same cost
    • Less Waste
    • If reusable zip ties are used, free zip ties!
