Basics
- An Alternative Method of Shipping FDM Filament
- Uses a coil with 4 ties radially spaced out
- Thus there is no "disposable" FDM Filament Spool
- It then uses a "Master Spool" that is reused for each filament
- These can be old ones, or even 3d printed
- The Advantages Are
- Less mass to be shipped (can often reduce shipping cost)
- No cost to make a spool, and thus either cheaper overall, or more grams of filament for the same cost
- Less Waste
- If reusable zip ties are used, free zip ties!
