Main Arms - build main arms, hang them on tractor, but do not weld anything until cross beam and bottom are aligned.

  • [2] Cut 4-1/2” piece of 1-7/8” DOM.
  • [2] Cut 3-1/2” piece of 1-7/8” DOM.
  • Mark position of loader shaft for diameter of DOM.
  • Torch loader shaft, considering that 1-7/8” DOM gussets are used.
  • Measure location of loader arms on frame.
  • Torch loader arm location in frame.
  • Place gussets in tractor frame.
  • Fit 1-7/8” shaft through gussets.
  • [2] Mount 1-7/8” washers outside of frame and inside of arms.
  • Insert DOM gusset into loader arm.
  • Mount 1 loader arm at a time onto the shaft.
  • Align both arms to rest on the bottom of the frame without any welding - then work on the cross arms - bolting them together while retaining alignment of bottom of arms.

Cross Arms - fit in cross arms, tighten, and then fix the pivot and QA pivot to retain alignment.

  • Cut 54" cross arms.
  • [4] Cut 1/2"x4"x6" angle - 6" long.
  • Drill 3 holes on long side and 2 holes on short side.
    • Long side goes on cross arm, shoft side goes on main arms.
  • Measure location for mounting of cross arms on the main arms.
  • Fit and clamp the cross arm in place.
  • Transfer punch hole locations on one side of loader arms.
  • Take loader arms off one by one.
  • Mark other side of cross arm-mounting bolt locations.
  • Annular cutter mag drill through main arms.
  • Remount main arms on 1-7/8" shaft, use washers and 2 double split collars
  • Align them
  • Fit cross arms and bolt them on, using metal lock nuts.

Eyes - with cross arms tight, make eyes align,

  • Cut [2] 3x7x1" pieces with bandsaw.
  • Weld pieces together.
  • Drill eye hole in weldment.
  • Torch out a 3"x 1" slit in loader arm top.
  • Cut piece of 1" rebar for inside of arms, reinforcement.
  • Insert 1" shaft through both eyes
  • Tack weld eyes and DOM pivots in place.
  • Raise arms to make sure they clear the frame.
  • Check for alignment, and realign if needed.
  • Weld eyes and DOM pivot in place.
  • Weld 1" rebar reinforcement in eyes.
  • Move through the range of rotation of the QA plate to confirm alignment.
  • After welding, grind and clean as needed.
