Given that there is a good likelihood that civilizations exist on other planets in our vast universe, why have we observed none, nor have any visited us on earth? One prominent explanation is that runaway technology (such as AI, artificial viruses, etc) or other features of psycho-social disintegration in humans or aliens destroys the same human or alien civilizations. Because on earth, we do not study, in earnest, how to become Integrated Humans or renaissance man and woman agents who live with integrity and meaning in their lives - there are serious risks involved with omnipotent technological means in the hands of irresponsible agents.
