The OSE Social Contract

Whereas poor distribution of power is unconscionable - and so is biodiversity loss, pollution, and loss of meaning in society, we commit to an open source civilization implemented through a distributed constellation of nodes, 10,000 in number nominally, with profound effect upon the entire civilization.

We commit to regeneration - defined as building soil, using renewable energy, and producing goods largely from local and recyclable materials.

This social contact addresses the multipolar trap with collaborative humility - that we are all in it together, and the goal of civilization is flourishing of everyone including nature. Humility is the willingness to work for the benefit of civilization and its interconnectedness - in that we annihilate the delusion that a person is separate from others or from the environment. The fundamental social contract is the universal connectedness.

Therefore personally, we commit to personal evolution so that we do not follow our pet peeves, but consider the interconnected of civilization and harmony with nature - working for universal thriving. That means we actively guard against instances of the Dark Triad, with active institutions to do so.

We commit to 10-100x less waste by open source product development up to everything, starting with basic infrastructure and up to space ships and microchips. The 10-100x is by open development - reducing development cost by this factor. This means to develop new technology, we are all collaborating, and the work gets done once - as opposed to multiple or hudreds of companies producing the same products in secrecy. Such drastic waste must stop.

This is how we commit to producing Frontier Knowledge Flow.

We commit to open sourcing the technosphere of required $50B civilization kernel - in that annual global R&D on new useful things is that. If we divide this by a nominal 20 year patent cycle, we would have $2.5B R&D per year. Divided over 10000 campuses, that is a burden of only 1/2M or less R&D per facility - which is nominal - equivalent to a full time effort of only 1 or few people.

We are motivated to remove the multipolar trap - based on the 10000 Factor. We strive to understand energy so deeply that we are even open to the possibility of space travel at village scale, which comes from the fact that civilization at the current 20TW usage could send 3 tons of payload into space every second. In other words the energy requirement for space travel (ultimate human expansion, if needed) is 2 acres of PV for a yearly 'moonshot' such as a satellite launch. We believe in 10000 Factor abundance, towards taming the reptilian brain into abundance where we act as good people. We also develop capacity for dual purpose technology - believing that production is the default - but destruction may be used if we are invaded. But we focus on negotiation at all times.

To do this, we commit to a lifestyle of open source product development, where together with 10000 campuses of a village scale each - we work on any new products needed for prosperity. But because we commit to collaborative humility - we do not do our peeve projects as our main ego goal - but instead commit to neosubsistence meaning we work around 2 hours per day, and the rest is our own interests. Production is trivial, using open source machines, automation, and AI.

We commit all our energy to energy to life-giving activity and regeneration. We all reorient towards wisdom, ethics, and flourishing - meaning remaining fully alive. We quit all the rat race, unipolar traps, violence, and scarcity mindsets.

Neosubsistence just means we avoid financialiation of any good or service we use. Ie, we trade in produce with money coined by product - ie, we can coin the same amount as a product is worth, such as nominal $1/lb for steel or $2/lb for stainless etc, based simply on energy accounting. This is doable because of transparent blockchain. We work out a system of on-demand production, with high transparency, so we know what is needed and can adapt as needed. The money system of exchange is to be developed in this community, but it will be abundance money in that anyone can coin as much as they put their energy into. It is just a system of accounting. People own what they produce, with transparent production infrastructure. For high tech, we produce just the same - by people who are certified to produce.

Each of our microcivilization nodes produces all that it consumes, just as the nominal Fab Cities project has proposed.

We exist as a Regenerative civilization node - building soil, using renewable energy, restoring the environment, while producing all that we need using local and recyclable materials.
