Towards Open Source Microindustry

An microindustrial facility requires 200kW of electric power to power a wide range of industrial processes. This could be achieved at 500V and 400A, which can be handled by 0/4 wire (400A free air ampacity). This applies to grid and off-grid power, where in the off-grid power case, a 200kW Electric Motor GeneratorGenerator can provide the necessary power.

Cost Comparison

  • 0/4 wire, $10/ft - [1] - carries almost 400 free air amps
  • 10 wire, 20 cents/foot - [2] - 7 of these carry the same free air amps as 0/4
