Basics
- A variation of a Flywheel that is resistant to sudden rotational speed change induced damage
- It uses one or more shells containing weights and springs
- The internal springs + disk(s) dampen the "shock" of a rotational speed change
- The outer shell adds additional mass, but mainly protection for the internals
- This mechanism can be done with a single disk and spring, a single disk with two springs, and then stacks and/or planetary "rings" of disk+spring combos
