Revision as of 04:10, 4 November 2020
Basics
- A material based off of carbonized Textiles (Typically Reformed Cellulose or Acrylonitrile (double check the plastic fiber) )
- Useful for Reinforcement in Composites, Flexible electrical componets (including electrodes and heating modules), and as a high strength fiber
- Can be in the following forms:
- Continous Fiber Reinforcement
- Chopped Fiber Reinforcement
- Fiber Matting Reinforcement (Essentially a Non-Woven Fabric _
- Fiber Textile Reinforcement (may need to be changed to fabric? essentially woven with longer fibers than the matting, also thinner?)
Product Ecology
- The Open Source Textile Construction Set makes synthetic or semi synthetic fibers and/or makes them into more complex textiles such as fabric
- Some are removed for Pre-Carbonization Quality Control Inspection
- The remaining amounts are loaded onto an appropriate device to be inserted into an inert atmosphere filled kiln / (Lab/Industrial) oven for Carbonization
- Some are removed for Post-Carbonization Quality Control Inspection
