Basics
- An Abbreviation for Selective Powder Deposition
- A form of metal 3D Printing
- Uses a crucible that is filled with either filler powder or metal powder
- This is then put in a kiln with filler metal above which seeps into the metal powder, but not the filler
- Thus it casts a precise part (No shrinkage like sintering methods)
- May not be better than other methods (Mig 3D Printing, lost pla casting, 3d printed part to greensand casting etc), but it is worth looking into
- Also may aid as a development tool for working with powders in a cnc enviroment
- May be useful for other powdered materials
