An approach of providing a survey of known knowledge in a given discipline, area or over a wide area. The purposes of providing such scope is to identify the limit of that area of knowledge, to prepare students to push the limits and innovate in the area. The limits are exposed early on - so that students develop a mindset of seeking out those limits, and formulating good questions to start breaking those limits. The point is to liberate one's thinking immediately to not be stuck in the self-imposed limits of any area of knowledge - but to expand immediately.
