Basics
- Stormproof Matches are a "Step Up" From Waterproof Matches in terms of rugged-ness, and in some cases are also Waterproof Matches
- They typically contain some sort of Oxidizer such as Sodium Perchlorate or Potassium Perchlorate to allow for (partial) combustion even when buried in dirt/debris, or even if put underwater (after being lit)
- A bit more expensive, but typically a bit larger than the average Safety Matches / Waterproof Matches and given that the only real use case for matches short of Historical Relevance / As a Curioisity is for Dissimilar Redundancy in Supplies for Emergencies etc, they are a more apt purchase due to their more rugged nature
To-Do's
- Determine Long Term Storage Viability / Potential Issues ( Organic Peroxide Formation / Other Instability from Storage )
- Determine Dud Rate / How that relates with Storage Time (Mainly in order to determine a proper Shelf Life for planning maintaining various emergency supplies)
- Track down some SDS on these + mess around with DIY/OS Mixtures
Internal Links
- Matches
- Safety Matches (The "normal" match)
- Waterproof Matches ( "Normal" Matches Coated in Something In Order to be Waterproof BEFORE They Are Used (No Effect After Ignition, Water will still Extinguish Them)
- Firestarting Rope (Some sort of Rope (Typically Jute Rope ) Infused with something such as Paraffin Wax to waterproof it + aid in combustion
- These plus a Lighter and/or Ferro Rod make a viable alternative to matches in most cases
- For Gas Stoves/Gas Mantle Lanterns a Piezoelectric Lighter or Plasma Lighter / Lighter / Permanent Match etc will suffice
