'''Remote Editing System'''
While developing my ideas for this system over the break, I have expanded the idea somewhat. Originally, the idea was to create a system whereby OSE can delegate editing tasks to remote volunteer editors, and devise a method of transferring the material to them. This will help us to create more instructional videos from the large stockpile of material we had when I arrived, as well as new material I am shooting, but do not have the time to edit.

Remote Editing System While developing my ideas for this system over the break, I have expanded the idea somewhat. Until now, the idea has been to create a system whereby OSE can delegate editing tasks to remote volunteer editors, and devise a method of transferring the material to them with relative simplicity. This will help us to create more instructional videos from the large stockpile of material we had when I arrived, as well as new material I am shooting, but do not have the time to edit. Features of this system include:

  • Badge system - to encourage an editing community to grow and gain 'cudos'.
  • Log system (excel/alternative) - to keep track of what footage has been used where.
  • 'How to edit' document / instructional - to build the skills of new and learning video editors.
  • Indexed, specific projects - to keep the edits focused and efficient.
  • Standards for editors - to ensure if the project is complex, the editor has the ability to fulfill the task.

Considering OSE is at the forefront of open source development, I am expanding this system's goals to inciu
