Documentation Manager
General
- Executive position - responsible for assuring ongoing delivery of technical documentation for the Global Village Construction Set machines
- Long-term intent, full time offer; may tele-commute
- 40 hour minimum work week
- Intent of position is to grow with the organization
- Competitive salary based on experience and culture fit
- Kansas City or New York City location
- Official title: Documentation Manager, promotion track to Documentation Director
Role Description
- Responsible for managing delivery of technical documentation for the Global Village Construction Set
- Assists ED in developing effective protocols and innovative tools for streamlining the delivery of documentation
- Produces contract scopes of work and specifications to technical writers, videographers, and other documenters
- Maintains and updates OSE Documentation Handbook, a guide for effective open source product development
- Works with Product Lead to coordinate delivery of documentation
- Engages in Talent Search to find key contributors
- Reports to Operations Manager
- Maintains a documenter database with assistance from Technical Community Manager
- Publishes RFPs and solicits bids for documentation work
- Collaborates with Technical Community Manager on special documentation-producing events, such as book sprints, video editing hackathons, and others.

- 5+ years of librarian, technical writing, information architecture, systems design, or other technical documentation-related experience
- Experience in interviewing
- Excellent communication in written, verbal, email, and video forms
- Conflict resolution skills
- Keen ability to identify and recruit talent
- Excellent team working skills
- Extensive experience with project management software
- Experience with database management
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Willingness to use Linux as the computer platform of choice
- Track record of community service is a plus
- Engineering experince is a plus
