9. Are there skills/expertise you hope to gain while a DPV at FeF?
Yes! I hope to hone some of my existing skills:
- desiging/protoyping/building
- Digital fabrication techniques
- 3D CAD
- collaborative & team-based design
- project management skills
Additionally, I'd like to learn:
- Welding & metalworking
- CNC milling/routing
- Hydraulic systems: design, use, maintenance
- Compressed Earth Brick building techniques
- Possible business models for taking Open Source Ecology machines and philosophies to scale
10. Please provide three (3) references (professional or educational).
I will email contact information for the following 3 references directly to the Technical Community Manager at info@opensourceecology.org.
Dr. Florian Engert, Harvard University
I worked in Florian's neuroscience lab for 2 years during my undergraduate studies. That was almost 10 years ago, but we have kept in touch and he's happy to be a reference. Florian can speak to my technical and analytical abilities, as well as my contribution to a collaborative research environment.
Rev. Dr. Terasa Cooley, Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)
Terasa was my supervisor when I worked for the UUA. Terasa can speak to my broad interests, systems thinking, institutional savvy, and interpersonal skill.
Samantha Wechsler, Institute for Policy Studies (IPS)
Sam was my most recent supervisor during my time at IPS. She can speak to my level of personal organization and effectiveness, my interpersonal skills (including managing conflict and/or delicate situations), and my passion for social and environmental justice.
Please note: I'm happy to provide further references if that would help (e.g. from my time on the Obama campaign, or my time founding/organizing Lucy Stone Co-op).
11. How did you hear about OSE and the DPV opportunity?
I saw Marcin's TED talk some years ago, and then got to see him at the 2012 Bioneers "Connecting for Change" conference. I've been following the blog, Facebook page, and wiki for some time now.
12. Do you have any other concerns or considerations? (May be emailed separately)
None at this time.
