design discussion

idler support

how much weight can the wheels hold?

could idler wheels be made out of steel pipe?

  • might be bumpy, might be simpler to fab. --Dorkmo (talk) 03:05, 24 July 2014 (CEST)

will the cylindrical shape allow the weight in the center be supported by wheels only on the outside edge?

  • I think so but im not sure. I think modularity would allow for additional idlers if it looks like it might be a problem. --Dorkmo (talk) 03:05, 24 July 2014 (CEST)

door

maybe a door that slides up and down on the inside of barrel.

could idler wheels roll over a door of this type?

  • I don't think very smoothly but it might work. if rubber wheels used might be better than steel wheels. --Dorkmo (talk) 03:05, 24 July 2014 (CEST)

drive

need one or two powered wheels?

  • I think maybe one could do it but modularity should allow for two easily. --Dorkmo (talk) 03:05, 24 July 2014 (CEST)
