DB Connectors

  • Tech drawing - [1]
  • Solderless - screw terminals - [2]
  • With ribbon - [3]
  • Sockets for ribbon cable - [4]
  • Attaching ribbon - squeeze to pierce -

  • Ribbon cable current rating - [5]

JST Connectors

IDC Connectors

  • =Insulation Displacement Connectors

  • Example connector for IDC cable - Male - [6], Female - [7]

Ribbon Cable

  • 22 ga ribbon cable does exist - [8]. Sourcing - [9]. Spec sheet implies that no insulation displacement connectors are used - [10]

MTA Connectors

  • It appears that female connectors only are available, not male. For Male, headers are used. Limits use for making plugs.
  • Crimp vs IDC connectors
    • 101 seconds to crimp with tool per pin, including wire stripping and inserting into housing (10 minutes for a 6 plug)
    • Second video says you can only use solid wire for this

    • This one says use stranded wire - [11]

Multiple wires at the same time - uses wires spaced out on a ribbon

  • Another MTA - An IDC type - [12]
