For the XLR input the "IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD" 3 Pin XLR to Micro USB Audio Interface seems like a good solution. Phantom power, gain switched, replacable cables, 24-Bit / 96 kHz resolution, and android/pc compatibility, for ~$99. Yet again pricey, but it seems like the best option. Probably best mounted on the side as is, or put in a 3D printed slot. | |||

For addition of modules to the base, as well as bounting options, I think a hotshoe mount on the top edge, and a screw mount (like those on standard tripods) on the bottom side, and rear face would be a neccisary addition to the overall design | |||
For super high end audio users the zoom audio feild recorders like the Zoom F8n would be a great addition | |||

I would reccomend usb-c (Possibly via a raspberry pi 4), a display out port, and hot swappable batteries
