Basics
- This page goes over a (Currently planning stage) workflow for designing custom Geodesic Domes easily with full OSE software and hardware integration
Workflow
Step 1: Planning
- Look over the Design Criteria , what materials you have available etc
- The Geodesic Dome Kit and Part File Repository may help
Step 2: CAD + Designing
- Use the workbenches (For FreeCAD and/or Sweethome 3D and/or OpenFoam and/or the custom tool ( Open Source Geodesic Dome Calculation Software )
- This will generate CAD and/or .SH3F files and a parts list
- Simulate stresses and wind in either a workbench, a custom tool, or OpenFoam
Assembly Planning + Part Manufacturing
- Assemble all Geodesic Dome Structual Beams and Geodesic Dome Connectors and Geodesic Dome Structual Panels needed (Either by hand, CNC Torch Table / CNC Mill , 3D Printer or Precious Plastic machines
- Download/Make a Language Agnostic Instructions and any other instructions needed
- Assemble the team needed (If any)
- Plan a Build Day/Event
Building
- Asemble the Structual Frame According to the Instructions
- Add a Geodesic Dome Flexible Cover if needed
- Apply any finishing (Paint, etc)
Quality Control
- Check for Leaks if needed
- Check for errors
