Basics
- A cable used for transmitting light (usually for information transfer)
- Can go longer distances unrepeated, and doesn't get effected by electromagnetic interference
- Works by two different layers of the transparent material (plastic or glass) the core has a different Refractive Index than the outer layer and thus the light is curved back in to the core each time it leaves the core
- A good visualization of the above is a dolphin jumping in and out of the water in arcs
