Problem Statement

2 weeks after national emergy was proclamed on March 13, 2020 - no effective open source respirator has been developed in the 2 weeks that followed. By effective, we mean:

  • Open Source Design - so it can be manufactured by anyone
  • Design for Distributed Manufacturing - so it can be manufactured anywhere
  • Design for automated production - so it can be 3D Printed anywhere
  • Reusable - so that it prevents large amounts of waste from happening.
  • Replaceable filter - so only a small amount of filter material is needed
  • Proper seal around edges - so that germs are filtered, and don't infiltrate through the edges
  • Modular - so that different types of filter inserts can be used
