Basics
- A device used for determining rpm remotely, vfx/art, or for stage lighting strobes
- Will be useful if we pursue motors, turbines etc
- Can also be a high power flashlight/spotlight when not in techmnical use
- Will also be a testbed for:
- CEB LED Use + Cooling
- DMX, Midi, and wireless control of standard lights
- Battery tech
Industry Standards
Existing Open Source Designs
Strobe Circuitry + Control Software
Form Factor + Led Cooling
Minimum Viable Product
- Uses the CEB LED Module
- Uses arduino + circuit controll for power + flashes
- Dial + basic screen for rpm of target or hz of flashes depending on mode
- Size of "ye olde" lunchbox sized flashlight
- Uses either a standard OSE Battery Pack or an OTS Power Tool Battery Pack to OSE Standard Adapter
- Integrated cooling and power conversion
- Optional plug in module/adapter
- Optional DMX, MIDI, and bluetooth/wifi contoll (mainly for non-scientifc use)
- Dimming of led?
Basic Design
Light Module
- A 100w CEB LED
- A Backplate for the water cooling (or perhaps just air cooling)
- Power with quick connectors
Cooling
- Either a air heat sink, or a watercooling setup
Power
- External battery or dc in source
- Voltage conversion
Brains
- Arduino
- Optional Midi sheild
- Optional DMX sheild
- Sheild for rapid power switching via mosfet, or do this elsewhere?
Box
- May do open frame with metal bars/extrusions
- Could 3d print a case for this
