Religion does not seem to cause nearly as many deaths as resource conflicts. [1]

What about all the jihad? In the big picture, it seems minor. How big a threat is religion to democracy in America? The OSE perspective is that first there must be material insecurity (financial dependence) discontent, then religion is invoked as well to organize against democratic values.

Strong idealism is a cause for all war. Only some of that idealism is religious, 7% according to The Encyclopedia of Wars. [2]
