Concept here is to use a metal connector gun for predrilled holes.
Framing
- HF - 30 deg 3" ring shank exterior grade 3 cents [1], 2.5 cents for smooth [2]
- Menards - 5 cents ring shanks .120 [3]
For Use as Metal Connector
Makes quick work of metal connectors. For the PV runners, longer HDG nails are useful.
1.5"
1.5" .148 galv 4.5 cents menards [4]
- 1.5" metal connector Menards $40 for 1000, Grip-Fast - 0.148 shank - 4 cents - [5]
- Bostitch at Menards, 1.5" metal connector - .148 shank - galvanized - 5.5 cents -[6]
- Bostitch not galvanized, .148 - 4.5 cents - [7]
- 1.5" metal connector - .148 shank - 4.1 cents - [8]
- Bostitch 1000 $67 1.5" 0.131 - 6.7 cents - [9]
2.5"
2.5" Bostitch metal connector 500 for $32 0.148 - 6 cents - [10]
- 7.3 cents nail gun depot .148 [11]
- 9 cents HD, but .161 shank [12]
- 7 cents HD [13]
For Use with Metal Connector Gun
To do connection with predrilled holes, such as trim angles.
2.5" .113 Versadrive, exterior rated. Plastic strip. Menards. [14]
- Would 2-3/8" nails work with the gun as well? Or will the tip not stick out? Test it.
Non-Metal Connector
15°
For cordless siding gun. Can use cordless siding gun for trim. If using scrails, this qualifies for lifetime design in removing trim or other removable parts.
Menards - 1.75" 0.08 coil, 4200 nails, $75 - HDG - 1.8 cents - [15]
- Lowes 2500 1.75", 0.092 gauge - Metabo coil - 2.1 cent - [16]
- See 15 deg scrails below. There are plastic strip 30° scrails as well.
Scrails
Then make them coiled and plastic strip. Ideally, a coil version could be used in a coil siding gun for trim attachment, and a plastic strip could be used. Future work: scrail, metal connector type, to 2.5" for trim, trim angle, and metal connnectors.
- Removable like a screw, but is shot in. Fasco [17].
- See 2.5" for use with the Metal Connector gun
1.75" .113 shank 15 degree star drive. Coil. [18]. If this were to work in a cordless coil siding nailer, that would be ideal. If not, that should be designed.
