I've mentioned Flarum before, but I wanted to let you know that I just encountered another website that uses them: NovaCustom. NovaCustom is a security-focused, pro-open-hardware, pro-right-to-repair laptop manufacturer in The Netherlands. Their forums use Flarum

Most importantly: it has the feature you requested, where you can integrate comments at the bottom of wordpress posts to be a thread that's on the forums. For example:

2023 Notes

Flarum is an open-source forum software. Unlike Discourse, it doesn't require a complex docker install, which makes it much easier to maintain.
