WHO are you?
- Name - Eerik Wissenz
- Location (city, country) - Helsinki Region, Finland
- Contact Information (email, phone, Skype) - wissenz (at) gmail (dot) com, skype: ewissenz

- Resume/CV -
WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?
- Do you endorse open source culture?
Yes, I have been developing solar concentration, Solar Fire, in Open Source for over 6 years. Also, I use all Open Source software for all Solar Fire development as well as for all my business web development, under Debian most of the time, including video editing, I use Cinellera.
- Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
Though I would be interested in helping Open Source Ecology regardless, in particular Solar Concentration is useless without applications and it is particularly adapted to powering local Open Source applications, such the GVCS. So, collaborating with OSE is the ideal development context for Solar Fire.
- How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?
In my experience in the developing solar in the "developing world" -- Mexico, Cuba, India -- I am always struck by the willingness to work, invent, cooperate and the resourcefulness of local populations. I have never encountered building something as a problem. What they lack however is the knowledge of what to build, because most industrial designs are not suited for local production and inaccessible anyway. The GVCS is a powerful trend in the opposite direction. Since it is the poor of the world that require tools to live autonomously the most I believe it's in these regions where a local economy will first emerge.
- What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?
I'm already fairly involved, I'll try to answer this question if I feel I become less so.
- What are you missing in the project?
For now I don't feel there's anything missing that isn't already actively being addressed, such as integrated web platform.
- What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?
In the future it would be exciting to see some sort of campaign for aiding spontaneous demonstrations around the world, though with the micro factory idea I think this will be achieved.
WHAT
- List all of your skills in these areas: Communications - Organizational - Computer Support - Finances - Design - Natural Building - Electronics - Automation - Metallurgy - Engineering - Fabrication - Agriculture - Energy - Architecture - Video/Graphics/Art - PR/Marketing - Education - Construction - Industry - CNC - Chemistry - Product Design - Other
Communication and Organization skills from running the Solar Fire project and our business SiSustainable.com. Computer skills in web development, see portfolio.
Engineering: no formal engineering training, but studied math in university and have picked up a thing or two from working with other engineering on various Solar Fire projects. I took a break from studying math to diffuse the Solar Fire, since I felt I already had all the math skills required to push it to the limits.
- How have you already contributed to the project?
I have already transferred much of the comprehension of solar fire verbally to OSE and have also given my opinions on making an integrated web platform. I have been adding the Solar Fire documentation to the Wiki.
HOW can you help?
- How are you interested in contributing to the work of GVCS development?
Currently my main interest is fully documenting the Solar Fire technology and integrating it into the GVCS.
- Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?
Currently I unable to volunteer as we have put all our finances into developing the SFP-32.
- Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?
This is the current situation. I am able to work full time for 1000 Euro per month.
- Are you interested in Dedicated Project Visit?
Currently, as we live in Finland, going to the US is not on the horizon.
- Are you interested in purchasing equipment from us to help bootstrap development?
Yes, in the future I would be interested in purchasing smaller jigs that can be easily shipped to Europe.
- Are you interested in bidding for consulting/design/prototyping work?
Yes.
- Are you a True Fan? If not, why not?
For now, considering I am being paid by OSE, I am not a true fan. After the collaboration is over, if ever, I am for becoming a true fan.
- Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?
Yes.
- Are you interested in using the technologies that we are developing directly?
Yes.
- Are you interested in being part of the world's first, open source, resilient community? The GVCS is the preparatory step for the OSE Village Experiment - a 2 year, immersion experiment (2013-2014) for testing whether a real, thriving, modern-day prototype community of 200 people can be built on 200 acres using local resources and open access to information? We are looking for approximately 200 people to fill a diverse array of roles, according to the Social Contract that is being developed. This may be the boldest social experiment on earth - a pioneering community whose goal is to extend the index of possibilities regarding harmonious existence of humans, ecology, and technology - as a beacon of light to benefit of all people on Earth.
My families current desire is to live in Europe, as most of our extended family is here. However, we are definitely convinced that this is the best approach for developing and demonstrating, and are very interested in creating a parallel GVCS community here in Europe.
