-I'm glad to hear you're using the Arduino, it seems well suited to what to your trying to accomplish. Also, I didn't for a moment consider that you would be Luddites, but you don't have to be a luddite to have a strict commitment to using only local resources. Still I'm glad your not quite so strict in that regard.
-As to my career and becoming a part of your villiage: I am currently a student working towards a career as a network administrator (I hope to have my CCNA in 18-24 months, but I guess we'll see). I also have a wife and 3 year old daughter who may or may not be amenable to the idea, but I myself will strongly consider it. I will have a fair amount of student loan debt to pay off when I finish as well, so let me get back to you on that.
-I do want to save the world though. You've got me there. I'll talk to my wife, see if I can get her to come up for a visit.
