Inverters and Grid Intertie (IGI)- Inverters convert dc power to ac, or may be used for conditioning ac power. If a large power source is available from the sun - energy sales to the grid are feasible. This is cost prohibitive today due to the high price of components on a small scale. We aim to make selling power back to the grid feasible on scales of 1 kW. A good inverter is the heart of an off-grid electrical system if batteries are used to store power.

Review of Project Status

Are there relevant inverter circuits in these electronics links, taken from http://web.mit.edu/kumpf/www/kumpf-links.html:

  • http://www.rlocman.com.ru/en/ RadioLocman. A very large archive of electronic circuits. You can find almost any type of circuit here, many with discriptions and explanations.
  • http://www.chipcenter.com/ ChipCenter. Research electronic IC chips and view their datasheets.
  • http://www.sm0vpo.8m.com/ Harry's Homebrew Homepage. A very interesting site with basic electrical theory, conversion and calculation programs, radio information, amplifier information, and a lot of circuits.

The grid intertie inverters are sometimes called "grid-tie inverter" (GTI) or "grid-interactive inverter" or (for very large ones) "static inverter station" Are there relevant inverter circuits in these links, supplied by David Cary:
