Business Development Introduction

Business development is part of Open Source Ecology development effort. After products are developed, then Business Development follows towards Distributive Enterprise. The unique feature of Open Source ecology Business Development effort is that it is an open process where many people collaborate towards radically distributed Enterprise models. This page documents various ideas that can be developed collaboratively by many people and also used by many of them. The scale of this effort is towards the open-source everything store. Larger than Amazon and Walmart, the goal is to reach about 1 trillion dollars as of salary earning towards the open source Tipping Point.

All the sections below are a list of ideas for business development. An OSE business development group will be added to the OSE Dev Team.

We start with approach.

Approch

OSE's work is challenging because as we push the limits towards the open source microfactory, there are several development points:

  1. Uncovering an incentive structure for mass scale open source product development. Theoretically, if the reward is multibillion dollar industries - even for a seemingly small item such as the $7B global market of the Open Source 3D Printed Cordless Drill - then motivating collaborators should in theory be feasible. The question is execution.
  2. Overcoming the disciplinary approach. It appears that the most fitting profile of a potential developer is a generalist and a social entrepreneur. However, entrepreneurs typically have a short term vision of survival, unless there is a significant runway. The ideal profile would be that of an R&D person, marketer, extreme manufacturer, and civic leader. Such characteristics in a single person are rare - and more so when it comes to the social entrepreneur embodying open source culture.
  3. Open Source Culture - Googling 'open source social enterprise' yields zero hits. Let me say that again: Googling 'open source social enterprise' yields zero hits. Even the most well known social entrepreneur, Muhammad Yunus, does not have an open source platform (ie, where the enterprise is a Distributive Enterprise

Swag

  • T-shirt, sticker for any of the products

Universal Axis

The Universal Axis makes a great kit. The base parts are 3d printed, and can come in many sizes. Revenue streams are sales of axis parts, frame parts (metal and plastic), plates for reinforcing Universal Axis, and information products. Kits.com for system parts can be provided for 3% cut. Information products include a Build Manual, Coffee Table Book, OSE Linux with Design Workbench, Design Guide for using Design Guide, consulting, speaking (thematic and specific). Individual products here can be specific implementations derived from the Universal axis:

  • 3D Printer
  • Laser Cutter
  • CNC Circuit Mill
  • 3D Scanner
  • CNC torch table
  • heavy duty cnc machine

Power Cube

  • Micro power cube can be a small kit, solar powered. For high torque, slow speed applications.

MicroTrac

  • CV robotic controller
  • Metal kit

Online Digital Community and Mastermind Community

Abundance 360 does well at this. Is their an equivalent version for OSE? From Peter Diamandis:

.A360 Executive Mastermind: This is the sort of conversation I explore at my Executive Mastermind group called Abundance 360. The program is highly selective, for 360 abundance and exponentially minded CEOs (running $10M to $10B companies). If you’d like to be considered, apply here.

Share this with your friends, especially if they are interested in any of the areas outlined above.

2. Abundance-Digital Online Community: I’ve also created a Digital/Online community of bold, abundance-minded entrepreneurs called Abundance-Digital.

Abundance-Digital is my ‘onramp’ for exponential entrepreneurs – those who want to get involved and play at a higher level. Click here to learn more.
