Basics

  • Element with the atomic number of 23
  • Easily mined, but is also a common waste product
  • It is quite (but not extremely) common in seawater, may be more easily extracted after removal of sodium chloride and magnesium, and/or concentration via evaporation ponds

Used For

  • Metallurgical Alloys
  • Sulfuric Acid Production (Vanadium(V) oxide is used as a catalyst)
  • Maleic anhydride Production (Vanadium(V) oxide is used as a catalyst)
  • Flow Batteries (vanadium redox flow battery)
  • Glass + Ceramics
  • Neutron Absorbant (Due to its isotopes which decay quite quickly to titanium (See Here) )
