Great and clear.

Use shift and control on Ubuntu to zoom in and out and move around to get a detailed cut.

Procedure:

  1. Windows menu -> New Toolbox if tools are not showing
  2. Free Select Tool - Lasso -> click and drag, or do multiple clicks for pointwise line selection
  3. Go all the way to the starting point and click
  4. Select-> Invert
  5. Ctrl-X to remove background.
  6. Save as PNG to preserve transparency. Export.

Making Background Transparent

  1. After you cut out an object, if you save it in a usual way, it may have a white background.
  2. You need to remove the background by adding a Layer->Transparency->Add Alpha Channel. Then hit Delete to remove background.
