TLDR; In an important negotiation, there is no alternative to making hard choices and commitments that still allow for a win-win situation - but absolutely do not compromise. Not attaining a win-win situation is not a reason to stop trying in the future. Compromise in this sense is poorly understood: most people compromise, but compromise is not a win-win situation. In the worst case, compromise by going down fighting.

Worst Alternative To Negotiated Agreement.

there is none! Not even BATNA. This reinforces the key Concept of negotiation: you are all in to get a win-win solution, not compromise.

Win-win may not be possible. That is the fun of it -;to look for it and never give up. This is just a mindset of excellence.
