Overview
3D Scanners enable near-instantaneous input of spatial data into digital systems. The technology is currently undergoing a massive flourishing of innovation as the underlying hardware becomes ubiquitous. As a part of the GVCS 50, it enables a suite of powerful applications.

- MakerScanner, uses a PS3 webcam (which cost about $40) and a few parts that can be 3D printed.

- The initial prototype had the size of a wooden box (previously containing three bottles of wine). Scan object size was 5x5x5 cm.
- The first 3D scanner device will have the size of a mobile file cabinet. Scan object size 30x30x30 cm.
