Evolution to Freedom

OSE's concept that one must master industrial productivity on a small scale to generate ample resources for thriving - at 2 hours of work per day. We call this Evolving to Freedom because only when we conquer material security - or making a living without stress - can we begin an earnest quest for higher purpose. Without basic needs being assured, there are always distractions from thriving. Some can Evolve to Freedom via voluntary simplicity, but most people do not have the spiritual skill or internal desire to do so. Thus, the easier route to prosperity is by industrial productivity on a small scale - which is OSE's primary meaning of Evolving to Freedom.

We emphasize material productivity because material productivity has a direct to nature - in that all wealth that we enjoy today comes from natural resources. Thus, there is a possibility of direct engagement in environmental stewardship in the very act of production. True to this, OSE promotes the use of local and recycled resources as a connection to environmental stewardship. See Protecting the Environment.
