Compressing Methane Gas

Typical pressure in a propane tank is 100-200 PSI (10 atmospheres) 1, including industrial forklift cylinders 2. Methane gas can be compressed to similar pressures for home use in power generation, though the energy density is 2.5x lower.

For powering cars, 500 psi may be used in the form of Adsorbed Natural Gas, with activated carbon as the adsorbant 3.
