MicroHouse Design Software
We are considering SweetHome3D (GPL) as the basis for our open source design package for remixing MicroHouses. We need to develop design software for the MicroHouse by creating a library of all the different modules that can be dragged and dropped for design. This has the potential to show the power of building upon open source to make real applications. Our strong point is that we have build the house modules, and are constantly evolving them. Now it's time to virtualize this process so that anyone can get involved in designing and building their own house. http://www.sweethome3d.com/gallery.jsp
Good news is that this can be used to model both the interior (to provide detailed specs and sourcing of components) and exterior. Thus, SweetHome3D can effectively serve as landscape design for permaculture, once again from a library of plants that can be localized to different areas of the world - so someone picks their design library based on their location.

- Roofs - "Sweet Home 3D supports the creation of ceilings seen from below, but doesn't manage the creation of roofs yet. Nevertheless, you can use various tricks to cover a house: if the roof is flat, you can draw rooms in a level matching that roof; if you want to add a sloping roof, you may assemble blue slate roof, red slate roof or polygonal roof 3D models available at the 3D models import page. - Design Automation - "Andreas Sjöstedt - Also, once you have put the modules in place, would be nice to automatically generate a master-file containing the project plans for actually building the houses. Is this the idea, or is it to vast? - Open Source Ecology Yes - that's the idea. Metadata of the parts should include sourcing information. Adding artificial intelligence logic scripts it would be interesting to let the software design a house for you as an initial proposition, then the user can modify to their liking.
