Issue

It takes a few minutes for a printer heated bed to heat up. Also, the heat bed is the most energy intensive part of 3D printing if the heat bed is on through the whole print - especially if there is no enclosed build chamber and if the ambient temperature is low (60 or under). To reduce energy use - the heat bed should be insulated.
