Basics

- A rocket engine that uses the burning of a solid propellant to produce thrust

- Usualy Can't Be Throttled (and can't be turned off once it starts), but does produce a lot of thrust cheaply, and reliable

- A hazard is air pockets forming because these have a nasty habit of exploding
