Vinyl Acetate

Basics

• The acetate ester of vinyl alcohol
• Produced industrialy by the reaction of ethylene and acetic acid with oxygen in the presence of a palladium catalyst

Used For

• Precursor to Polyvinyl Alcohol (This will be the the moost likely main use due to it's greater simplicity and it's greater use case (dissolvable fdm filament)
• Precursur to other polymers/copolymers such as Polyvinyl Acetate, Ethylene-vinyl acetate, and Polyvinylpyrrolidone which have multitudes of uses

Ecology

• Ethylene from biorefinery
• Acetic Acid from bioreactor(s)
• Oxygen from either of these sources:
  • Electolysis Device
  • Pressure Swing Absorbtion Device
• Catalyst is a bit rough (Get the pallidium from exhaust catalytic converters?)
