Basics

  • A bicycle that has a powered front and back wheel, as opposed to just the rear wheel
  • Can be mechanical, mechanical electric, or electric only in design
  • Has the advantage of more grip, and possibly more efficiency due to no "dead weight wheels"

Industry Standards

Mechanical

  • There aren't many chain driven models, possibly due to saftey issues

Christini Bicycles

Mechanical Electric

  • These are quite rare due to the complexity involved, especially if one wants all wheel for both modes; not just electric mode (via two hub mounted motors)

Christini Bicycles

Electric Only

  • Too many to list really, just get a bike, slap a motor on each hub, wire it up, and you got yourself a functional all wheel drive bike, not desirable though due to no backup after battery depletion
