Inverter Types

• Microinverters still require the grid [1] for a reference signal. But, can the reference signal be provided from an off-grid pure sine wave inverter with a small battery?
• Hybrid inverters can work without grid - [2]. They are both solar inverters and battery inverters. But, can they work without grid if there are no batteries?
