- Thinking can easily lead to spinning in place. Writing helps refine it. Saying it to others reveals gaps in your logic. Thus, thinking and oracy are intimately related. It is a way to form accurate mental models, testing them external of your mind.
- Key writing skill: taking notes. If you comprehend that humans forget, then if you want to accelerate your learning, you have no choice but to keep a notebook and write things down. In the Apprenticeship, you are expected to have your notebook with you most of the time. Then challenge yourself to take pictures and post publicly.
- In class, you will learn and teach. This oracy is critical
- A lot of logic simply means counting. Hence Numeracy is critical.
- Just about all of physics is about counting natural quantities. Same with engineering. Thus, if you want to understand the world, you must be able to count
- Counting can range from simple to advanced calculus. Both are just counting, at different levels of sophistication.
- Use computers to help you count. Computers can help humans count more effectively for many things. Soon they will be able to see and process visuals better than you. Use that
- Counting procedure to achieve a specific task is called algorithms.
- Learning how to read means learning how to process a lot of information that means speed reading by Buzan. Learning how to read also includes learning what not to read by assessing quality and dropping it as needed.
- Most mental models require counting, such as Sturgeon's Law. Counting is this very important.
- Oracy can be fueled by moral intelligence, where you speak against injustice or things that do not feel right.
